Opening Paint Shop Pro 9

For me Corel’s Paint Shop Pro 9 will hang on opening and will never fully open if I just click the icon and wait LOL This computer was purchased new in 2006 with XP on it. I have no idea why this happens but it does. I have searched for a way to get PSP 9 to work and it took a while so I thought I would share how I do it. Screen shots are provided just click the links in the text.

  1. Right Click on Desktop –> Select Properties
  2. Dispay Properties window will open –> Select the Settings tab at the top
  3. Click the “Advanced” button –> another window will open
  4. Select the Troubleshoot Tab–> You should now be viewing “Hardware acceleration
  5. Move Slide bar to None –> Click apply –> Your screen may flicker this is ok
  6. Leave these windows open for a few more minutes as we are going to use them again.
  7. Open Paint Shop Pro 9 as you normally would open it or any other program.
  8. After Paint Shop Pro is fully open –> Go back to the open “Hardware acceleration” window
  9. Move Slide bar back to Full –> Click apply –> Your screen may flicker this is ok
  10. Close windows –> clicking OK is fine.
